Interior systems have an impact on the design.

Data, Voice and Telecommunications 



    Telephone lines and internet are necessities in the interior environment, nowadays there is a huge need for the wireless service, routers, and WIFI connections. Today there is a huge need for a home to be able to support lots of data. As well as the commercial needs in the office, there is a large load on the need for outlets and power. As well as video conference rooms where calls and videocalls can happen. 



    Audio visual systems are also sometimes a need. Space planning to make sure that all occupants of the space can see the projected information. As well as making sure the audio is condensed to that room only. 

Security 



There are also many different options such as lock down systems used to secure a facility after hours or during an emergency. Burglar alarms are used in different building types to alarm when someone enters or exits a space. They can also be programed to alarm during a fire or another emergency. Metal detectors are used in various building such as governmental, airports, and schools. They are used to keep safety to the general population when hazardous items try to enter. 

Vertical Circulation

This is the way in which people move from one floor to another. This can be stairs, elevators, escalators, and ladders. There are many different styles and needs for each type to keep the user safe as well as keeping them safe in emergency situations. This helps an individual navigate a space, wayfinding especially in an emergency. 

Benching System vs Cubical Configuration 



A benching system is useful when wanting a mobile and adjustable style. This keeps the space more of a sitting hub instead of a permanent feeling. The cubical has a permanent feeling, gives the user more space to store things and makes it feel like their own office. 



During COVID the general population worked from home, I feel this was something that people enjoyed and so now they want to either permanently work from home, or they want to have a more flexible office layout. They want to be able to work from different areas and different types of seating.

 Ceilings  Week Seven Blog Post  Chapter 9 Ceilings      Ceiling come in many different forms and materials that a ceiling can take on, one being cathedral and sloped ceilings. Cathedral Ceilings has a slope it creates a spacious space that a flat ceiling does not create. They have issues with lighting options, and you have to consider heating and cooling for the space.
